How Dryrobe Closed Their Apparel Compliance Gaps
How Dryrobe strengthened and further expanded its presence in markets such as the US, Canada, Japan (and more).

"We were worried about compliance blind spots. After conversations with EdgeComply, we gained a clearer, more usable compliance foundation with clear guidelines for what we need to do in each area."
Damien Barden, Head of Global Operations
The Challenge: International expansion and clarity on regulations
As Dryrobe looked to strengthen and further expand its presence in markets such as the US, Canada, Japan and more, questions about local regulations left the team unsure whether they had the full picture. Although they believed they understood UK and EU requirements, questions from France about Triman recycling information on products and packaging led them to EdgeComply for broader assurance as the business entered new markets.
Although Dryrobe already used supplier certifications, quality checks, and performance testing, it lacked a coordinated assessment of how these existing controls and documents met each market’s requirements.
That’s where EdgeComply came in.
The Solution: Expertise, coordination, and piecing the puzzle together
The EdgeComply team began by reviewing Dryrobe’s existing paperwork, including product information, technical packs, materials, reports, certificates and artwork. The team then mapped existing and upcoming requirements across the UK, EU, USA, Canada and Japan. Through a requirements assessment, gap analysis and label review, the EdgeComply team linked each requirement to the relevant products, markets, risk levels and available evidence.
This map showed where evidence was missing, guiding the next step: contacting suppliers for existing reports and certificates to fill the gaps. Instead of testing everything, EdgeComply reused relevant OEKO-TEX evidence and arranged additional tests where needed, starting with core, high-volume fabrics. This led to a practical testing plan that used existing information and helped the team give suppliers clearer instructions.
Next came the labels and packaging. To ensure GPSR guidance, the EdgeComply team showed Dryrobe how to use its existing EU entity and supply contact; thereafter, EU shipments carried the correct stickers. EdgeComply then translated the requirements into label templates and editable recycling assets, and created a video walkthrough for the design team. Later, EdgeComply reviewed and thoroughly checked Dryrobe’s revised polybags, e-commerce packaging and swing tickets.
Finally, sustainability claims became a second, connected workstream. Dryrobe wanted to avoid greenwashing claims, especially in view of the Green Claims Code in the UK and the EU’s ECGT (Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition Directive). However, Dryrobe also didn’t want to be so cautious that good work went unmentioned. To ensure all marketing claims were backed by evidence, EdgeComply reviewed more than 60 web and social content sources and provided feedback on revised copy, videos, and the draft report.
The Result: Clearer, more usable compliance foundation
Dryrobe’s partnership with EdgeComply transformed complex, multi-market regulations into a clear, streamlined compliance picture and action plan. With EdgeComply’s help, Dryrobe was able to:
Access a clear map of requirements: one view of what applies across the UK, EU, USA, Canada and Japan, both today and on the horizon, linked to each product, risk level and piece of evidence.
Prepare market-ready labels and packaging: review GPSR-compliant stickers across a range of labels and packaging. A product-by-product review gives the team a clear list of actions for the rest of the range.
Make sustainability claims they can stand behind: reviewed copy and clear recommendations help Dryrobe talk about its sustainability work with confidence, avoiding both greenwashing and greenhushing.
With compliance firmly under control, Dryrobe can focus on what it does best: creating products its community loves.
